Feeding high-fat fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids helps reduce the risk of renal cell carcinoma Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) accounts for about 80% of all kidney tumors and is the most common type of kidney tumor. The incidence of RCC in the United States is on the rise. Swedish researchers have recently found that eating high-fat fish (rich in docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid) helps reduce the risk of RCC in women. The researchers analyzed 61,433 women with no history of cancer (1987-1990) and learned about their frequency and habits of eating fish through two dietary habits questionnaires. The results showed that individuals who ate high-fat fish weekly between 1987 and 2004 had a 74% lower risk of kidney cancer than those who did not. Epidemiological data show that Americans are the least affected people in the country to consume omega-3 fatty acids. For individuals who cannot guarantee adequate intake of fish, supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids is as important as vitamin B. ——Shanghai Medical Device Industry Association website
